We are seeking an experienced Landscape Department Manager I to join our team in Columbia, SC. This position ensures product availability of nursery, irrigation and/or turf and landscape supplies. Trains department personnel and promotes company values while motivating and challenging staff through sales and customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Responds to basic and more complex customer questions concerning product including recommendations for substitutions, resolves a variety of customer service issues and processes sales transactions. • Manages department inventory through cycle counts, identification of demand changes, and ensuring proper product mix. • Provides supervision and work direction to departmental personnel and assists with problem solving, training and/or mentoring of less experienced personnel. • Performs administrative functions for the department, including but not limited to product receiving, purchase orders, product transfers and defective good disposition. • Delivers technical/product training to department employees and/or customers.
Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. One to three years of experience in the retail nursery, irrigation and/or turfgrass industry. 3. Basic understanding of re-wholesaling. 4. Sales and managerial experience, which includes leadership, issue management, motivation and/or team building. 5. Experience in supply management and product inventory management. 6. Basic understanding of accounting fundamentals. 7. Computer experience required.
